About the Trust

A community effort, run openly

No one person owns this. The trust exists to hold the building on behalf of the whole village and to do the legal and practical groundwork properly.

At a public meeting in June 2026 the village nominated the people below to form the community trust. These nominations are made by the community and are to be finalised at the next public meeting; new members are welcome to come forward before then.

How it's set up

The trust is being formed as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) — the standard structure for community buildings across Ireland — and will register with the Charities Regulator. This caps trustees' personal liability at €1 and brings the protection of trustee indemnity insurance. Once incorporation and registration are complete, the company number and registered charity number will be published here and linked to the public register, so anyone can verify them.

Our purpose

To re-establish clean community ownership of the Castlebridge Reading Rooms, to conserve and restore it as a Protected Structure, and to reopen it as a living community space — with its future use decided openly by the village.

Transparency

As the trust takes shape we will publish its governing documents, policies and accounts here, and acknowledge every funder according to their guidelines. Progress is recorded on our news page.
