Public meeting and open pitch session
The next public meeting finalises the Setup Committee and opens the floor: anyone in the village can pitch an idea for how the building should be used. 8.00pm at Castlebridge Community Centre — all welcome.
June 2026
A community trust takes shape
At a public meeting in June, the village nominated a group of Trustees and a Setup Committee to form the community trust and carry the project forward. The roles are interim, to be finalised at the next meeting, and the work of re-establishing ownership and forming the company is now under way.
Spring 2026
The village gets organised
A series of well-attended public meetings agreed the way forward: form a community company, re-establish clean ownership, insure the building, and work towards restoration with heritage funding. Expressions of interest opened to anyone who wanted to help.
2025
A spotlight on the building's story
The Reading Rooms and its thread to the Guinness Book of Records drew national attention during 2025, including coverage by RTÉ News, and the record books were displayed in the building during the Fleadh Cheoil. The interest underlined what the village has always known: this small building has a story worth saving.
