Heritage and community grants require a local contribution before they release the larger sums. Your support is what unlocks them — a small gift here helps draw down far more.
We're forming the community trust and opening a charity bank account now. Once that's done — and charitable status lets us claim tax relief on donations — you'll be able to give directly here. The most useful thing you can do today is register your interest, so we can tell you the moment our fundraising opens. Every euro raised will go to the conservation and reopening of the Reading Rooms, accounted for openly on our news page and in the trust's reports.

Funders such as the Heritage Council, LEADER and the Historic Structures Fund typically ask the community to put in at least a fifth of a project's cost. That means a local gift doesn't just add itself — it helps release several times its value in grant funding.
